associations UAM students support the strike by workers cleaning

The cleaning workers of our university are on strike. The precariousness of wages and labor rights are the daily bread for this sector feminized and invisible to society. However, for the government delegation assigned 100% of minimum services, breach a constitutional right, now it seems more important.

The chilling details of your situation are:

85% of cleaning workers are women by the patriarchal allocation of jobs. Of which over 67% are working part-time hours from 10 hours per week ridiculously precarious contracts and multiple job holders because a wage of 7.18 euros per hour not can live and forced to work overtime (illegally) paid 3 or 4 euros per hour with a tendency to full time availability close to slavery. The company " Seguriber Cleaning, S. L " cleaning contract at the UAM, is hiring new workers in unfortunate situations (extreme poverty) to be forced to work against the rest of the group of workers and cleaning faculties, with this the company intends to mute the conflict, clean up its image and the university, discrediting the work of striking workers in their day to day, trying with this, pretending that nothing is happening.

The precarious situation of these jobs are the result of years of privatization (outsourcing) and always regressive labor reforms for the working class. We, the students, many workers and others will be in the near future, we expect rates precariousness of over 65%, which convert Spain in the EU worst and the best workers for employers.

Regardless of the electoral context, student associations support the just demands of early work in this sector so oppressed and exploited. Similarly, we call for support, collaborate and extend solidarity among the entire university community to ensure that workers achieve their goals for upgrading their salaries and work as soon as possible.
